PROTECTING OUR PLANET

'Best care' includes caring for our environment. Here are some of the ways we practice eco-friendly dentistry…

Recycling

We are part of the Oral Care Recycling Programme, run by Terracycle in partnership with Colgate. We can recycle:

  • toothbrushes
  • toothpaste tubes
  • toothpaste caps
  • floss containers
  • outer packaging materials

Simply give your Colgate product recycling to the reception team and we'll take it from there.

Sustainable Materials

We use biodegradable plastic items that can be sterilised and used multiple times. Our single-use rubbish bags and saliva ejector tips are also 100% biodegradable. Where possible, we substitute plastic with renewable cardboard and paper.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

We use local technicians and deliver and collect cases on foot whenever possible. For our technicians in Taupo and Napier, we bulk send our cases to reduce the number of courier parcels.

All the lights in the practice are LEDs, reducing our energy consumption.

Technology

Digital x-ray technology means no dark rooms equipped with tanks of fixer and developer solutions. This removes the need to use these toxic chemicals and manage their disposal.

Our suction system includes a Cattani Hydrocyclone amalgam separator. This uses centrifugal force and filters to remove amalgam particles from wastewater before it enters the city sewage.

A Continuing Journey

Protecting our environment is a permanent agenda item at our monthly staff meetings. It is an evolving journey and we’re all enthusiastic to stay on board.
