TECHNOLOGY

Using the latest technology is an essential part of providing ‘best care’ dentistry.

Cross Infection Control

Our instrument cleaning procedure uses four B class autoclaves. Modern equipment, a custom designed clean-up room, and stringent cross-infection protocols ensure the highest level of patient safety.

AIRFLOW® Therapy

AIRFLOW® therapy is the latest development in tooth cleaning technology, using a jet stream of powder and water to remove plaque, stains, and early tartar.

AIRFLOW® therapy is more comfortable than conventional techniques, as it requires less tooth scaling. It can be used to safely clean around orthodontic braces, implants, crowns and bridges, as well as in patients with pacemakers and internal defibrillators.

Headlights and Magnification Loupes

All our work is completed wearing magnification glasses and headlights. This enables us to pay attention to detail, save as much tooth as possible, and create ‘invisible’ restorations. Having light wherever we look is very important.

Digital X-rays

To minimise your exposure to x-rays, all our machines are the latest digital x-ray units. This means you receive 10% of the radiation from conventional x-rays and can see the images on the computer immediately.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras help show problems in your mouth. They can zoom in to take photos of the finest details in teeth. The cameras are tiny, technical pieces of equipment. The head of the camera pictured is less than 1cm across.

DIAGNOdent Laser

Early dental decay is increasingly difficult to detect and measure. The DIAGNOdent laser identifies decay in the grooves of teeth before it is otherwise detectable. It also gives us a quantifiable reading, which we can use at future reviews to make sure decay is not progressing. It works very well when used in conjunction with the HealOzone system.

Soft Tissue Laser

Gums sometimes need to be reshaped. This may be to get the best bonding for a filling below the gum, a deep crown margin, or correct a crooked gum margin. In each case, we gently trim the excess gum away using a soft tissue laser. The laser uses intense light with no heat. It makes a sterile cut with no bleeding or damage to the adjacent tissue. Healing is much faster than conventional surgery. The procedure causes little discomfort, although we always offer local anaesthetic.
